Are you Seventh Day Adventists?
No, our Church is not affiliated with the Seventh Day Adventists. Though we believe that Christians should observe the Sabbath, we differ on other points such as observance of the annual holy days/Sabbaths mentioned throughout the Bible (Passover, Pentecost, Tabernacles, etc).
Are you Christian?
Yes. We believe that God the Son has always existed (as the Word spoken of in John 1) and came to earth in the form of the man, Jesus of Nazareth. We believe He was the Messiah prophesied of throughout the Old Testament and that repentance and accepting His sacrifice for our sins is the only path to salvation for mankind.
What denomination are you?
We are not affiliated with any given denomination. We seek to follow the Bible where it leads and attempt to follow in the footsteps of the original New Testament church that God founded, built on Jesus Christ as our example and foundation.
Are your church services in English or Spanish?
Our services are in English only at the moment. However, there is another group, that we meet with regularly, where we offer spanish translation through wireless receivers during the service.
What are your Church Services like?
Our services typically open with the singing of a few traditional hymns and a short prayer followed by a main message. We then close with a hymn and prayer and have fellowship and snacks after services. Not including the fellowship, services typically range between 1.5 to 2 hours in length.
Why not just meet on Sunday like all the other Christian churches?
We believe the Sabbath was set apart as holy by God and instituted at creation. We believe that man was created with a need to rest and that we need a day dedicated to God and our spiritual needs. This was true at creation and remains true today. We see clear evidence throughout the New Testament that both Jesus and then the New Testament church observed the Sabbath, with the latter doing so long after Jesus’ death and resurrection. At the same time we see no Biblical evidence of the Sabbath ever being abolished completely or changed over to Sunday.
Why don’t you meet every week?
On weeks where we don’t meet together as the Church of God in Miami, our members typically meet with the United Church of God about 40 minutes north of Miami. We have a good relationship with that church and have very similar beliefs. At the current time we find it beneficial to meet on a monthly basis and support them on the weeks when we aren’t meeting.
